  • Find out why leading teachers such as Matthew Sweeney and Ana Forrest are switching to Planet Sadhana mats.

    Have mat - will travel.
The same core stability and durability but nearly half the thickness of the regular mats.
Great for taking with you on those long journeys.
This is the mat that everyone has been waiting for!

Feel good about yourself and the planet using it: the first step to prevent pollution and resources exhaustion, etc. is to use the most durable goods. This is a MAT FOR LIFE!

It is made of NON TOXIC PVC, contains NO latex, NO Phthalates, NO Heavy metals, NO Harmful substances so you can practice safely without fear of allergic reactions or toxins entering he body.

It is Oekotex certified which also ensure an emission free manufacturing process.

Images for reference only, actual colours may vary. Please note all long lasting PVC mats need to be worn in before reaching maximum grip. The best way to do so is to practice on your mat. However, you can give a good energetic rub to your mat with a clean damp towel (you can also add a little bit of sea salt), then rinse it and dry it with another clean towel. Then allow plenty of time to dry in a well ventilated room, preferably in the direct sunlight. That should do the trick!

  • Questions on Lite Mat

      • Is that mat a travel mat?
      • Hi Liz,

Yes... and no! This mat is indeed the lighter of the range and is perferctly suitable as a travel mat. With its low volume and light weight (less than 1.9kg) you'll be able to take it with you everywhere. However, some yoga studio already made the PS Lite their "resident mat", available for any student who wouldn't have a mat already.

      • hi, i got lite mat, but when hands and feet are getting some sweat its so slippery, maybe you can give me some recommendations about this problem, i would be very thankfull for it.
        thanks
      • Hi Olga,

        Sorry for the delay.

The Planet Sadhana Mats are made of non toxic PVC. When they are manufactured, the paste goes trough an oven then comes out as a mat at the other end. The problem is: the manufacturer has to roll the mats straight away so they spray a lubricant on the mats to avoid each layer to stick to the other while being rolled. The effect of the (cold) lubricant on the (hot) mat also closes the pores, reducing the absorbing power of the mat.

Good to hear about all this technical jargon but where does that leave you? Basically, there are two simple steps to overcome slipping and sliding over your mat:

1 - You can give a good rub to the mat with a clean damp towel. You can even use a little bit of mild detergent (ideally, natural soap as chemicals may interact with the mat... and you don't want that!). Then rinse and leave plenty of time to dry in a well ventilated room, lying as flat as possible.
This will help you get rid of the lubricant on the mat.

2 - Practice and sweat as much as you can! This will be the ultimate way to get your mat grippier. The rubbing from your hands and feet along with the sweat is the best combination to re-open the pores of the mats. Once done, your mat will get grippier each time you'll use it. There is no mystery with PVC mats: they're all the same. You have to wear them off a little before they achieve their maximum potential.

Enjoy your practice. Do not hesitate to get back in touch with us if you have any question.

        Namaste,

        Tibo

    • From Terence at 03/02/2011 14:17
      • Hi,
I need a mat light enough to take around town to classes and travel with, but durable enough to stand regular, intense use. I'd be using it up to 30 hours per week.
Would this mat be durable enough for me, or should I consider the Core Mat?
        Thank you.
      • Hi Terence,

        Thank you for contacting us.

Both mats will be able to sustain a super intensive practice without any problem. For your choice, I guess you'll have to decide between maximum comfort but bulkier and heavier or slightly less comfy but light and easy to pack and carry... The lite will be the best if your main decision criterion is to carry the mat around. If you want extra comfort, then go for the Core mat... I hope this answers your question.

        Namaste,

        Tibo
